Intro to Dog Dancing with Jennifer Fraser

 Dog Dancing is fast becoming a mainstream canine performance sport that showcases the creativity and training skills of a dog-and-handler team in an entertaining performance choreographed to music.

Dogs dancing was depicted in ancient pottery, and the vaudeville era included musical numbers with dogs. Modern musical freestyle dates back to the ’80s, helped by “heelwork to music” displays at Crufts. Dogs of any breed capable of learning obedience and tricks can ultimately learn musical freestyle.

Musical Freestyle, or Heelwork to Music as it is sometimes called, is a choreographed performance bringing together “obedience” skills and tricks. Arguably the most artistic of any dog sports, through shared choreography, dogs and handlers take to the dance floor and move in sync through their dancing routines.

• Jennifer has been successfully competing with dogs for over 35 years. She has earned over 350 titles with her dogs, in multiple venues.
• While living in Italy for a few months, Jennifer discovered trick training and started street performing with her dogs to make ends meet while her children were in school. She took her trick training onto  America’s Got Talent in 2019 and took their adventure to Crufts 2022, the biggest dog show in the world.
